Medina Mahrou Mohammed Ibrahim
Guided by the "For Us By Us" ethos, Medina seeks to connect communities of the African diaspora, both online and in person, through her work in producing and activating temporary spaces.
As the co-founder of an open mic project, Deep Underground (2015-2019), she has honed her skills in creating spaces that prioritize equity & authentic expression.
Medina’s interdisciplinary artistic practice focuses on collective healing through personal storytelling, with a focus on analog mediums and intentional curation.
In 2019, she lent her curatorial skills to the Portland Art Museum, to present Monuments: The Earth Expedition of Sun Ra, showcasing her ability to merge art, culture, and community engagement.
Currently splitting time between Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and Portland, Oregon, USA, Medina continues to bridge cultures and create spaces where individuals can come together to have unique experiences.
